Why I Created Muscle Movement & Mindset
Life doesn't always follow a straight path – and mine certainly hasn't
After being made redundant from a creative career I'd always known, I decided to see it as an opportunity rather than a setback. It gave me the push to retrain as a personal trainer – something that had always been in the back of my mind and close to my heart.
Fitness has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. In my 20s and 30s, exercise was all about cardio. I played netball, ran regularly, and completed everything from 5km races to a slightly crazy 50+ mile ultramarathon. Back then, I believed that if I wasn't sweating buckets, it probably wasn't doing much good.
And whilst I still love cardio and always will, my approach to exercise has changed significantly over the years.
These days, strength training plays a much bigger role in my life. Not only has it improved my body shape and posture, but it has also helped me feel stronger, more capable and more confident in my own body. I've learned that fitness isn't just about burning calories – it's about building a body that supports you through every stage of life.
my focus now is on longevity. I want to stay strong, healthy and independent for years to come.
Life also looks very different these days
Like many people, I'm balancing work, family life, a busy household, and all the unexpected changes that come with getting older. Between raising two young children, navigating perimenopause, and trying to carve out a little time for myself amongst the chaos, I've come to appreciate that fitness has to fit around real life.
Sometimes my children join me while I train. Sometimes they're supportive, and sometimes they're busy arguing, distracting me, or demanding snacks every five minutes! But that's life, and I think it's important they see me looking after myself, prioritising my health, and staying active.
My focus now is on longevity
I want to stay strong, healthy, and independent for years to come. I want to be able to keep up with my children, support my family and continue doing the things I love. I'm no longer interested in quick fixes, crash diets or chasing a ‘summer body.’ I'd much rather make steady, sustainable progress and know that I'm becoming stronger every day. That shift in mindset has changed everything.
I believe fitness should support your life – not take it over
As a qualified Level 2 Gym Instructor and Level 3 Personal Trainer, I combine professional knowledge with real-life experience to create training that is both effective and realistic. My approach is built around three key pillars: muscle, movement and mindset.
I understand how overwhelming fitness can feel. There is so much conflicting advice online, so many trends, challenges and ‘must-do’ workouts that it's easy to become paralysed by where to start.
The truth is, you don't need a gym membership, endless equipment or hours of spare time to become stronger. There is so much we can achieve with simple, effective training tailored to your lifestyle, your goals and the time you have available.
Whether you're completely new to exercise, returning after a long break or simply looking for a more sustainable approach to fitness, I'm here to help.
Don't wait for Monday. Don't wait for next month. Don't wait until you've bought the perfect trainers or found the perfect time. Start today. Because every small step you take now is an investment in a stronger, healthier future version of yourself.
